Shane Whitley claims GT3/GT4 battle at Hampton Downs

Shane Whitley has taken the first race win of the weekend for the TradeZone GT3/GT4 Series at Hampton Downs. Whitley took the win with a half-second margin over Logan Childs after a last-lap pass round the outside.

Jeff Sharp came home in third-place after sitting in second for much of the race whilst nursing a broken and flailing front splitter. James Webb and Martyn Todd took out fourth and fifth, split by less than half a second at the line, with Richard Moore finishing in sixth.

Sean Browne came home in seventh, leading the next pack of cars with Nigel Karl two-seconds back in eighth. Mark Allan and Jason Feck round out the GT3 top ten in ninth and tenth respectively.

Steve Elliot was the first of the GT4 class with a dominant seven-second win over Dave Iceton who finished second in class. Ivan Knauf charged to a third in GT4 after starting from the back of the field.

Wayne Bryant took a fourth-place finish, less than two-tenths of a second behind Knauf. Louis Kuriger and Brian Hamilton came home in fifth and sixth in class with S Gregory two seconds back in seventh and 18th overall.

Jordyn Wallace and Michael Marsh rounded out the GT4 field in eighth and ninth.

Matt Podjursky, Nick James and Luke Hillhorst did not finish.
