John De Veth took a dominant win in the first TradeZone GT1/GT2 race of the weekend at Hampton Downs. De Veth finished a full minute ahead of second-placed Kerry Jones. The final spot on the podium went to Brian Grey who was a further 17-seconds behind.
Brock Cooley was next to cross the final, fourth overall but first in the GT2 class. Marvyn Towers was next in the queue, fifth overall and second in GT2, 11-seconds adrift of Cooley.
It was an eventful race for Glenn Smith who was slow of the line before making a quick pit stop to rectify an issue with the car. Smith eventually rejoined the race to finish a lap down in fourth in GT1.
Simon Barry was next to come home, third for GT2. followed bt Struan Robertson in his Porsche. Nathan Strachan finished fifth in class ahead of Shane Parsons, Murray Bell and Brendon Sole. Morris Turner and Nigel Karl rounded out the top ten in GT2.
GT2 had an eventful start to the race with Hayden Gare pulling off the track to retire before the race start. Then at the start, an opening lap crash involving Brayden Phillips and Nick Jones left both cars with damage which forced their retirement.
