Glenn Smith on top in GT1/GT2 qualifying
Glen Smith has taken pole position for TradeZone GTRNZ GT1/GT2 at Hampton Downs. Smith, who set a 1:29.031min lap, was a commanding 2.2-seconds faster than John De Veth who will start in second.
Kerry Smith, 1:38.309min, and Brian Grey, 1:41.222min, will start from third and fourth on the grid respectively, and the last of the GT1 field.
Brock Cooley was the best of the GT2 class, taking pole with a 1:42.337min lap. Second in GT2 and sixth overall was Nick Jones. Jones’ time was just 0.5s adrift of Cooley.
Karl Rastrick, less than two-tenths of a second slower than Jones, will start third in class with Brayden Phillips alongside in fourth. Hayden Gare and Struan Robertson will start fifth and sixth in GT2. The pair were separated by less than 0.2-seconds.
Nathan Strachan and Marvyn Towers will start from seventh and eighth, split by less than a tenth of a second on the stopwatch, while Morris Turner, ninth, and Andrew Stewert, tenth, will round the GT2 top ten.
