Nick Jones takes opening GT3/GT4 race at Hampton Downs
Nick Jones has taken a convincing win in the opening TradeZone GT3/GT4 race of round two of the series at Hampton Downs. Jones crossed the line with a 1.8s gap to the second-placed Hayden Gare while Richard Wagstaff was a further 0.4s behind in third.
Coming home in fourth was Jeff Sharp who also set the fastest lap of the race. Anthony van den Berg finished in fifth ahead of Layne Collier in sixth, Shane Whitley in seventh, Peter Begovich eighth, Dallas Green ninth and Garry Carswell tenth. Carswell recovered after he ended up spinning at the hairpin after contact with Collier.
There was drama on the opening lap when Andrew Stewart ended up off the track and in the wall at the final corner.
The first of the GT4 class was Brian Hamilton with Drew Jefferies second and Tony Christiansen third.
