John De Veth takes safety car effected GT1/GT2 race

John De Veth has won the first TradeZone GT1/GT2 race of the weekend at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon. Whilst De Veth started from pole position, local racer Cameron Jones took he early lead in his home-built rocket. Jones managed to hold off De Veth and his Daytona Prototype for the first half of the race until the latter took the lead on lap five of ten.

An incident for Terry Jones on lap seven at Higgins prompted a safety car on the following lap. This froze the field in their positions as the race finished under the control of the safety car.

De Veth took the win with C. Jones in second. Adam Newell drove his Daytona Prototype to third with Kerry Jones in fourth. Matt Whittaker came home fifth in his Porsche with Sean Kirkpatrick sixth, Hans Ruiterman seventh, Bernard Verryt eighth, Bob Sievwright ninth and Struan Robertson tenth.
