John De Veth dominates first GT1/GT2 race

John De Veth has won the first TradeZone GT1/GT2 race of the weekend at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon. De Veth and his Crawford Prototype romped home to a 19-second win over Matt Whittaker and his Porsche 911. Kerry Jones was next across the line in third, ten-seconds adrift of Whittaker.

Brian Gray was fourth in the ten-lap race with Ben Coffin in fifth. Coffin was also the first car home in the GT2 class beating home Brock Cooley by two-seconds in sixth overall and second in GT2.

Brayden Phillips finished in seventh overall and third in class, narrowly ahead of Cameron Jones, returning for his home round in his home-built Mazda RX7. Struan Robertson and Brendon Sole rounded out the top ten in ninth and tenth respectively.

Murray Bell and Marvyn Towers finished in 11th and 12th with Nathan Strachan 13th, Simon Barry 14th and Shane Parsons 15th. Nigel Karl and Andrew Stewart rounded the field in 16th and 17th.

Hayden Gare and Adam Newell did not finish.
